Fall Is My Favorite Time of Year

Fall Is My Favorite Time of Year

I love fall, I can’t get enough of it, sadly I live in apart of the country that does not have beautiful fall foliage but with that being said…if there is a will there is a way. Okay cowgirls, lets saddle up and talk about why fall is my favorite time of year. Are you ready? Let’s go! If we are gonna ride, we need music, the year of our trip was 2004, take a listen to what was playing on the radio.

When Boss Man and I decided to visit, in my eyes the fall capital of the world, New England, we flew into Vermont and took a road trip, winding through the most beautiful country side I have ever seen, we ended our trip in Bar Harbor Maine. I wanted to share some of my photos from the trip. Although it was more years than I care to count, the memories of our trip seem like yesterday and are tucked safely away in my heart.

Color and Cooler Weather is What Makes Fall My Favorite Time of Year

Fall is my favorite time of year because of the brilliant colors, they bring such feelings of warmth and comfort to me. The crisp cool air tells me that the heat of summer is a faded memory.

I love this photo, the colors of the leaves were vibrant and bold. Don’t you think? Can’t you just feel the chill in the air? I still remember it.

Fall Leaves, so brilliant and lively

How do a few leaves on grey rocks look so lovely? They just do.

Another reason fall is my favorite time of year

The people of  New England seem to appreciate and celebrate this beautiful season, there is such a celebration going on everywhere you look. Every house had similar greetings, I snapped this photos as we walked through a Vermont neighborhood. A simple and fun way to celebrate fall.  Every time I see mums it makes me think of New England in the fall.

Fall in New England

Once we left Vermont and headed to Maine, we saw so many beautiful photo opportunities, yes, another reason why fall is my favorite time of year. As an non professional photographer I was in heaven, I might not be a pro, but photography is my passion and has been for many years, and now with digital technology, I am like a kid in a candy store! Woo Hoo!!!

New England Country side

I took this from the car window, it was an early morning and there was quite a chill in the air. Perfect!

Here is another shot from the car, Boss Man would not stop, he is a driver, not a stopper… so I just clicked away from the passenger seat, sometimes rolling down the window to get a brisk shot of cool, crisp air.

Old Barn New England

I am  in crazy love with this barn! Wouldn’t you love to have it? Our drive was filled with scenes of beautiful colors and old barns, my idea of heaven.

Lastly is a bridge was taken at the quaint motor inn we stayed at  in Franconia New Hamshire. We loved this place and just walked around for hours looking at the beautiful leaves, rocks and stream. I wish I still had the name of it, I would love to go back.

The real reason I love fall is besides all this beauty, is it makes me think of my family that lives in this part of the country, I was able to see them on this trip and it was the first big adventure for Boss Man and me and the key to many more adventures. That is why fall is my favorite time of year.

Have you been to New England in the fall? If you haven’t you really need to add this to your bucket list. Thanks for riding along today, please leave a comment and let me know what your favorite time of year. Until Next Time, Happy Healthy Trails

This post is dedicated to the 10 people that lost their lives at Umpqua Community College, may their families someday find peace.

  1. It’s so wonderful to hear how much people love fall and your trip sounds like quite an adventure into autumn in New England. I am not a huge fan of this time of year, as although it has its beautiful moments, it is precursor to winter and I miss the sun and warmth and the wonderful summer flowers which offer such a cornucopia of colours. It has been a slower than normal fall here in Toronto, although today I did see red leaves on some trees. I am actually heading to Arizona this week and can’t wait for the hot and dry sunny skies, in contrast to the damp fall air here. I can see why visiting a place during fall is so appealing, Lisa and agree, it is something everyone is wise to experience at least once in their lives. Lovely pictures and I really felt how enlivening this trip was for you. Happy to hear about your happy memories and having the photos just enhances the adventure!

Beverley thanks for stopping by, isn’t if funny, I live in a dry hot climate and crave cooler weather with more seasons, I suppose the grass is always greener or drier in my case. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. We don’t have the colorful Fall that I remember as a child in New York in India, Lisa (I used to collect the leaves 🙂 ) but we have a very festive Fall leading up to Diwali because now is the time that there are a number of Hindu festivals which bring color into our lives. It is also the lull between Monsoon and Winter which is my favorite time of the year, but I do miss the Ode to the Seasons of the American Fall.

Vatsala, I love your posts, I always learn something so interesting from you! It is funny how certain colors can brighten up a season or give you a sense of a season, thanks for stopping by!

  3. I love your fall pictures, especially the sweet little bridge. The colours of fall are amazing. New England sounds and looks like an amazing place. Isn’t great how memories of good times can take you right back there?

Yes it is funny how memories and music can take you back to where you were. Thanks for stopping by Tamuria!

  4. Love reading/seeing this post. FALL is my favorite and probably because of the colors and the wonder of nature. I love the brisk air. We live in NY & have the opportunity to see fall foliage turn daily. Right outside our door are the Ramapo Mountains and huge trees in our complex that turn deep burgundy. So enjoy your photo/text blogs.I’ve written a blog or two about fall.

HI Roslyn I would love to read your posts about fall, you live in such a beautiful place for fall, we don’t have much of one out west, but it you look you can see hints of it. Thanks for stopping by!

  5. I love mostly everything about the fall: the pretty colours, the crispy air, the foliage, the smells and aroma of apple pie. I’m not very crazy about the cold weather setting in though, because I then know winter is coming, haha! I then miss the hot summer days and beautiful sunsets in the summer evenings.

Thanks for stopping in Delia! I get it about you not being crazy about the cold setting in, you have tough winters, I love fall because we have tough summers and I know the heat is leaving. Thanks again!
