Happy May Day 2015

Happy May Day 2015

I hope everyone had a great May Day, no matter how you celebrate it. When I think of May Day, I like to think little gals, in soft white gowns dancing around a May Pole, holding on to bright colored ribbons. Another favorite May Day activity for me is placing flowers on someones front door step, ringing the door bell and running to hide, waiting to see their surprise.

May Day 2015

Enjoy your May Day! I sure did with this lovely surprise. Have you ever received flowers on your door step on May Day? If so from who? Or what is a favorite May Day memory.

Here is a little sketch I did today in honor of May Day. Enjoy!

  1. Love the sketch, Lisa and those roses….. you must be VERY popular! May Day is also International Labor Day and most of the functions and news in my part of the world are related to it but I remember the kind of day you described when I lived in New York as a child. Belated May Day greetings from India!

Hi Vatsala, wow! A visitor from India! Thank you for stopping by and reading this post! I really enjoy your blog, you are a great writer. Yes May Day has a very different meaning in different parts of the world, I am glad you have fond memories of this sort of day from living in New Yort. I was reading about the marches and parades that took place in Los Angeles yesterday and other parts of the country. I actually did not realize the significance of May Day until I did more research for this tiny post. Very eye opening for me. Thanks again!

  2. Hi Lisa~
I have both received and given flowers on doorsteps on Mother’s Day! As kids, we always gave our Grandma flowers in little construction paper cones. Usually wildflowers we picked on our way in to town. So much fun!
    Your roses are beautiful!

Hi Paula! Oh I remember those precious little cones made of construction paper. Last year we made a basket out of construction paper, it was a lot fun too. Our wild flowers peaked and bloomed earlier this year so my little admirer was not able to pick wild flowers…these pretty pink roses will just have to do. Thanks for stopping by, have a great mother’s day, however you celebrate it!
