My Western Heart Update

Howdy my western hearts! I know it has been a very long time since I have written a post but I have had so much going on these past few months. This is not an excuse, just life. Hopefully my life is settling in and morphing into something new.

Since I last wrote several very exciting things have happened.

First of all, Tin Can Allie aka TAC has finally been deemed worthy by the DMV, she is no longer under Junk Status… I am free to drive her around from town to town, we finally have license plates! YippeeNo more junk

The next really big thing in my life is, (drum roll please) I quit my job, yep, my job that I went to for the last 13 years. I had been very unhappy for a long time and I finally had the catalyst that made me quit, an unreasonable and downright mean manager. Working under these conditions was taking a toll not only on my health, but a toll on my family, life is too short and I threw in the towel and had a new theme song,Take This Job and Shove It,  I had planned to quit after the New Year but when things got a little crazy, I gave notice. The best thing I ever did! It is funny when you step away from a bad situation; you can really see and feel how bad things were.

I'm outta here!

Me on my last day

Two days prior to my resignation, I had bought tickets to England. I was a little worried about going ahead with my trip as I did not have a new job lined up, but life is short and I wasn’t sure this opportunity would come again. So I went and had a trip of a life time!

My Western Heart

In the next few weeks I will share my travels to England, I am glad to be back in the saddle so to speak, writing about travel, trails and treasures. My life is much calmer and I look forward to expanding My Western Heart in new directions.

Last weekend we did our first boutique and had a lot of fun meeting new people and talking with already established followers. My Western HeartThe blog and website will continue to be about all things western focusing on primarily 3 things: Travel, Trails and Treasures, plus a few other surprises. Change is good but not always easy, one of my favorite sayings is, “the only constant is change”. I am so glad I made changes, things are working out, I have a new job that I love,  I am a lot less stressed and I am so happy. My family and friends see it, a former coworker said, “you are like a new person, you sound so happy”.

I hope you will continue to join me as we expand My Western Heart and see how things unfold,  until next time, happy, healthy trails!

  1. Congratulations on listening to your Inner Voice and taking the first steps towards your new adventure. Being in a toxic environment does not help you or your loved ones.

Interestingly, I wrote about my own decision to quit the corporate world and embark on my entrepreneurial adventure in my latest Kindle Wakeup Calls: what happens when you accept your Call to Adventure.

I think you would smile if you read the story. We have so much in common!

Vatsala I would love to read Wakeup Calls! I am going to look for it now! I love your words “toxic environment”, for so long I was holding myself hostage in a world that I did not fit into. Once I made the decision to make the change, things opened up for me… Thank you for your support and understanding, sometimes people that are not in this situation don’t get it. Thank you for sharing with me! Yes we do have alot in common and I look forward to reading Wakeup Calls:what happens when you accept your Call to Adventure..BTW I LOVE the title, going to shop for it now! Happy Trails!

  2. Wow, so many massive changes but congratulations on reclaiming your life and leaving the job. Can’t wait to read about your trip to England.

Stay tuned Tamuria, there will be more on England, it was not a typical visit to England and that is why I wanted to go despite quitting my job. Feel free to sign up for our newsletter “The Pony Express” so you don’t miss any of the future posts. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

  3. Love this post. You know they say you close one door and another one opens. You discovered this and sound like you are on an exciting path. So happy you have returned to a life you love and your blogs reflect that. Looking forward to all your travels and ideas.

Thank you Roslyn, I truly believe this about one door closing and another opening. I am so glad I closed that chapter in my life, I wake up happy, love my new job, it is much more rewarding and I am…appreciated. I have more flexibility and drive to work on projects that I love and mostly, be with my family, and be happy. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Congratulations on having the courage to change, Lisa! And wow, what an exciting ride you’ve been having because of it. So excited that Tin Can Allie is now on the road and to hear more about your London trip.

The thing about fear is it stops us from taking the steps to get out of bad situations. Think of how many people live their lives this way. Sad and scary, and as you’ve shared, it is so freeing to actually trust the universe and yourself and move forward into the great unknown. We are always supported and often the most unbelievable things show up when we are say “yes”. It sounds like you are having a blast and having people notice the change in you is also an affirmation that you have entered new and unlimited territory for yourself. I’m staying tuned for more. 🙂

Thank you Beverley! Yes it was a big leap of faith but I really had no other choice, things were just plain miserable. Fear is a terrible thing and I agree it does stop us from doing the things we love. The best part is my family can see a change, a wonderful affirmation. Thank you for stopping by and I will keep you updated in future posts. As always I enjoy your posts!

  5. So happy that you’re happy, Lisa, that’s what matters most! I can’t wait to see how life unfolds for you and, of course, the great blog posts you’ll be writing about your adventures.

This is also going to put more focus and determination on your blog, which I’ll be so excited to see!

Thanks Delia! Yes, I look forward to putting more into MWH and seeing how things unfold. Thanks as always for all your support!!

  6. Hot damn cowgirl…you look like a young filly again, you should have aced that job years ago! Your boutique booth was adorable. You make the cutest one of a kind western items. I had no idea you are such a great photographer too. I love the equestrian series greeting cards, especially the one I got, “Fury of the Fire”.

Best of luck at your new job I know you will be loved and appreciated.

Thanks LK! You are too kind! It was fun seeing you Saturday and thank you so much for purchasing my cards, “Fury of the Fire”!! Enjoy and there is always more of those!
