Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival 2014

2014 Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival

The 2014 Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival was awesome this year! We arrived at the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival around 10:20 am; the crowds were already lined up to take a short bus ride to the historic Melody Ranch.Melody Ranch The weather was perfect, mid 70’s, big puffy clouds everywhere, live performances humming along, the shopping was the best yet and the peach cobbler…to die for. The Best Peach Cobbler Immediately upon arrival you were greeted with the ohh so delicious aroma of the best darn peach cobbler ever!  Naturally the first thing we did when we got  there, was go straight to the cobbler line. Of course I had to top it off with some genuine cowboy coffee.Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival Coffee               This cowboy was not gonna mess around either, he had his peach cobbler and was ready to go. The Best Peach Cobbler   The Best Peach Cobbler! Delicious! Really hit the spot and started our day off right after all I was in search of the perfect hat. Santa Cowboy Festival 2014 Shopping The dusty streets of the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival were brimming with people on the old stage set. Inside each of the building was shopping. Immediately I was taken by a lovely hat, I did a little dance, asked questions, got tons on encouragement from my best friend and finally handed over a chunk of change for the best purchase of the day! Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival 2014 Hat Isn’t she beautiful! She is handcrafted by Cherie Slaven at the Colorado Hat Co.               As some of you know, or don’t know, I LOVE saddles, especially vintage parade type saddles or anything from circa 1950 or 1960.  The Happy Trails Children’s Foundation is holding a raffle on May 17, 2014 for this amazing saddle. HappyTrailsSaddle You can still purchase tickets for the drawing at http://www.happytrails.org/vintage-saddle.html or just learn more about it by going to their website, good luck, but I think I got this in the bag. I hope! I would really love to add this to my collection. Well that is where I am gonna leave off for today, until we saddle up again partners, happy trails. Next time on Tales for the Trail, I will show some of my other fabulous western treasures from the 2014 Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival

  1. That sounds like lots of fun, Lisa! I love the pictures in this post, it’s like I’m in a western movie when I read it 🙂

Love your hat what a find, best cowboy event ” this side of the Mississippi”, a place where men step aside and say
“howdy mam” while kids rope in the street, meantime the lady’s listen to cowboy poetry, shop, fill up on peach cobbler then sit awhile on Main Street just to check out the goods as the cowboys pass by!

Oh, the good old days when mens jeans stayed up even without their belt and silver trophy buckle! All is Well!
