Why I love Pinterest

Why I love Pinterest

A few years ago when Pinterest came out, I remember thinking this is really cool. I fell in love as soon as I was able to get my account set up. I remember trying to explain to people that had not heard of Pinterest, telling them, you know, its like a place for all those cool magazine articles you just can’t part with but organized. Most didn’t get it because they were not hoarding old magazine articles like me.

Now I finally  see Pinterest catching on more and more, many people are so excited for this new way to save and organize articles but heck I have been “pinning” for years.  Check this out.

I love magazines, they are colorful and fun, easy to read, some of my faves are, Living, Victoria, Cottage, Flea Market Finds, Western Horseman, Cowboys and Indians just to name a few. I would love to keep stacks of magazines around, yea right, but sometimes there are a few that have a special something and you don’t want to part with, but for the most part, you might just want an article or two from the entire magazine. So this is how I use to “pin”.

I had a file, a very unorganized file of magazine articles, ideas, things I would soon be getting to. Recipes to cook, things to paint or the latest training technique for my horse all stuffed into a folder, all mixed up Take a look. Isn’t this fun, more of a mess if you ask me.

Why I Love Pinterest

Once in a while I would need an article from my folder, I would shuffle through papers. Not sure why I was so unorganized, usually I am not unorganized…messy yes, unorganized no.

Here are my articles spread about on the floor. Why I Love Pinterest

So yes, this is why I love Pinterest, it is so much more organized than my old Pinterest. It is easy, I can access it from my phone, I can add from my phone, tablet or computer, on the go or at home.  I can find things, keep things and share things. How cool is that.

Hop on over and take a look see my pins, my collection grows daily and I have to date over 4500 pins. www.pinterest.com/MyWesternHeart  I have some great cool stuff, a real western mix and then some. While you are there, don’t forget to follow My Western Heart on Pinterest.

Thanks for riding along today, now it is your turn. Did you ever have your own way of “pinning” prior to Pinterest, would love to hear it. Until Next Time, Happy Healthy Trails!

In your list of magazines, you forgot MaryJane’s Farm! Lots of interesting articles in that one. I also like Mother Earth News (not the hippie magazine I once thought it was), all quilting magazines, and anything to do with gardening and non-GMO stuff.

Thanks Betty J for stopping by My Western Heart. I couldn’t bear to hack up a MaryJane’s Farm Magazine, they are in the special keepers file. I will need to look for Mother Earth News, sounds interesting. Please come back again!

  2. Hi Lisa. I used to have a similar style of filing to yours based on topic and while I still have my precious files, paper does fade in time. I use Pinterest for a couple of reasons – to promote my coaching brand, let potential clients know me better and as a place where I can keep interesting posts instead of downloading files and eating up my disk space. I love quotable quotes and Pinterest folks are generous in sharing beautiful ones.

I couldn’t agree with you more, we all need computer space and I do love the quotes I find on Pinterest. I still like to shuffle through my old papers but it is much easier with Pinterest. Thanks for stopping by Vatsala!

  3. Pinterest is my favorite way to save the ideas I find online! Recipes, fun things to do with the kids … and even for my website! It’s so awesome to be able to share ideas so quickly with others. 🙂

Hi Kimber, thanks for stopping by! It is a cool way to promote a website I agree, I have one board dedicated to my blog posts, it helps me easily see what I have done, and where I need to go, as a very visual person it gives me lots of direction and keeps me on track.

  4. I also love Pinterest for personal use, though as a blogger it is my least favorite form of social media (I find so much less interaction on Pinterest). I used to take photos and file them into folders on my computer as my way of “Pinning”. It took a lot more time and a lot more memory on my computer!

Hi Heather, we all have our faves. What started out as a hobby and a way to organize recipes and party ideas has really taken off for me. I find so much inspiration there. You have a great blog, thanks for stopping by!

  5. It is so interesting to me how much people LOVE Pinterest, as for me, I haven’t taken the plunge to create any pages there. As a very visual person, who also takes a lot of photos and posts so many visuals on FB and Twitter, I am not sure why I haven’t moved to the Pinterest platform to share both my stuff and to share other people’s as well. Thanks for the post , as it does help to show how valuable and how easy (I think it is easy) a platform it is to use.

Beverley, if you can do Twitter, and I know you can, you can do Pinterest…to me it is the easiest and most fun of social media. It is a good time killer waiting for appointments. Thanks for stopping by!

  6. We have a lot in common. I used to be addicted to magazines. Crafts, design, art, genealogy, history. etc. Could not walk out of a store without one. I eventually tamed the beast, but still have a few remnant stacks of my favourites. Also did the filing system. I am just now learning to appreciate Pinterest.

Hey Kathryn, I still want to buy magazines when I see them but have to hold off…or at least try. Have fun with Pinterest, so many great ideas floating around there. Thanks for stopping by My Western Heart

  7. Like you, I love Pinterest. Maybe for different reasons. I love seeing all the things I am interested in but don’t pursue, like pottery, art glass, gemstones, travel, nature, and so much more. When I look at my boards, I feel like I am creating a magazine.

    • Lisa J. Hoover

Roslyn, that is a great way to look at it. I too have things that someday… I will get too, thanks for dropping in

  8. I used to do the same thing! I would have piles of recipes I had pulled from magazines as well as interesting articles to reference “later”. I love Pinterest. Everything is organized and no more clutter!

    • Lisa J. Hoover

I totally agree Kirsten, and I love that I can pull up a pinned recipe while shopping for ingredients. Thanks for stopping by!

  9. Annie James

Girl friend, get a life…you have way too many Pins…you need some cows to look after…

    • Lisa J. Hoover

Yea yea Annie, get to work on the blog and give me a break cowgirl XX

  10. I like to be organized so I kind of learned all I could about Pinterest before taking the plunge to a new platform. But it’s so fun to see how you’ve spiced things up from the way you used it at the beginning until now.

BTW Lisa, I think I invited you to pin to a number of my boards already but if you like others from the common ones, just message me on Pinterest and I can add you.

    • Lisa J. Hoover

HI Delia, I will message you, I don’t know that I got the invites. Thanks a bunch! Yes much more organized now. Stop by again
