My Western Heart- Most Change is Good

Trails, Treasures & Travel

What an exciting time this is for My Western Heart, saddle up and come along to hear about some new changes. I have been working hard to reformat the blog, and I will only be blogging about once a month. Topics will kept streamlined to trails, treasures, and travel hopefully keeping things simple. Are you ready, let’s go! I can hardly wait to tell you all about it

First of all let’s talk trails

My Western Heart- Trails

Some really sad news, Jake, my trail partner for the last 12 years, has been having some health issues and he cannot be ridden at this time, it is likely he will be retired permanently. I am heartbroken to say the least. Jake has been such a steady and kind friend all these years, he has done some really impressive things out on the trail like the time he carried home a sick dog, helped me celebrate my last days of being single at my bachelorette party, then attended my wedding and impressively hauled me and my precious cargo around  for 9 months. We have had some fine times together Jake and I and some dang fun rides. Sadly the medical care we are trying does not seem to be working, he is comfortable but not improving, when he is no longer comfortable, I will have to make a hard decision. Until then, he gets to hang out, eat carrots and be the ranch mascot.  Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, he is such a good boy.

Ok, after that sad tale, let’s cheer up a bit and talk treasures

My Western Heart- Treasures

As most of you know I love all things antique and vintage, I grew up with parents that had a fantastic eye for western treasures, antiques and vintage pieces. Our house was filled with unusual artifacts from days gone by, as I result I have the same desire to save treasures and find them a new home. I have been working hard to set up a place to sell my vintage treasures and it is finally coming together. My Western Heart now has a Face Book group page called The Rockin Farm Chick. This is a place for my vintage and antique treasures to find new homes, specializing in vintage farm house collectibles. We have already had 2 “Barn Sales” this month with exciting prize give aways and lots of great deals, click on over and check this out but only if you are a lover of vintage and antiques, this page isn’t for everyone and I don’t want to fill up your Face Book feed of unnecessary junk cuz “one women’s junk is NOT always another woman’s treasure” If ya know what I mean. Here is the link of The Rockin Farm Chick and new logos

Now, moving on…Travel

My Western Heart- Travel

No I haven’t gone on any more adventures since my lovely trip to England, and it you didn’t get to that post, check this out, My Western Heart England

Instead of jumping on a plane or taking a relaxing train ride, I got to sit this one out in front of a warm fire, with a nice glass of Merlot from the comfort of my own home, a little “arm chair travel”. What a deal!  My dear friend  was super lucky to visit beautiful Jackson Hole Wyoming over the Christmas holiday season, she was kind enough to send me some pic and let me post them!! Take a look at these and add this destination to your bucket list

Jackson Hole

Beautiful Snow in Jackson Hole Wyoming

After a day in the snow, why not warm up at The Cowboy Bar. Tell me this place doesn’t get hopping! Giddy Up!

Cowboy Bar Jackson Hole

How fun is this?!

After a long day, why not settle in for dinner and a nice place to lay your head at the amazing Wort Hotel

The Wort Hotel

Isn’t Jackson Hole amazing? I think so, it is on my list of places to go and see, and has been on my bucket list for a while. I can hardly wait to see this beauty in person!

Well I hope you enjoyed the new blog format, I will only be posting once a month and covering the same topics; treasures, trails and travel, if you would like to sign up for our email reminder, please send an email to [email protected]. I promise no spam and I will not give out your information to anyone. Occasionally I might throw out a coupon for our new shop The Rockin Farm Chick, if you are interested, email now.

Until next time, I wish you all happy and healthy trails, treasures and travel

Thanks for riding along today on Tales for the Trail!

Kind Regards,

Your trail guides ~

  1. Love the new format & your style. I like seeing vintage & western stuff but not a collector so Ill pass up your wonderful deals & wish you good luck o growing your page & finsing new homes for your treasures.

I had to read about Jake a few times and can feel the love & appreciation you have for him. He nows how much you care. Given you are onto new paths, maybe he is too.

Thanks Roslyn for writing, yea, I am pretty heart broken about losing my trail partner, we have had some really good times together, thank goodness he can’t write a book…I would be in trouble…See you next month for more trails, treasures and travel!

  2. I love the new look, Lisa. Jake is still the star and The Horse. I’ll be praying for Jake’s recovery and a long retirement life. May there be no hard decisions to be taken, only lots of carrots and love.

Thank you Vatsala for the prayers, so far no decision has had to be made, we are just enjoying carrot time and now that the grass is green, grazing for him…Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I wish Jake all the best as he gets to live his life with the best quality possible. Having an animal we love is the best feeling, so it is hard when they are suffering.

As far as your love of vintage treasures and antiques, I totally get it. At one point when I was on the road in the music industry, we went to any “farm” sales and I collected everything from Depression glass to old bottles to old sheet music. You’d have fun coming to my place to go through all of my “stuff”. I have no idea how I will ever pass it on to others.

Yes, Jackson Hole looks wonderful. Very quiet and peaceful from the photos and I can see why it calls you, Lisa. All the best with your new Trails, Treasures and Travel direction. Sounds like you are going to have a lot of fun along the way!

Thanks for the positive thoughts for Jake Beverley, it is hard to see him slowing down…time will tell.
Yes I LOVE farm sales, and last weekend got to go to an incredible one…the place has actually been on American Pickers…it was amazing. It sounds like your collection of treasures is right up my alley, I love depression glass…but I happen to collect Jadeite…it is my fave.
Hopefully soon I will go and see Jackson Hole in person, until then I will enjoy these photos! Thanks for stopping by Beverley, always enjoy your comments!

  4. I’m so sorry to hear about Jake. Sounds like you’ve had some wonderful times together. I love that he was part of your wedding. Your treasures are lovely and your new look is fantastic. Sometimes armchair travel in front of the fire is the best – especially if there’s Merlot involved.

Hi Tamuria…Jake was a big part of my wedding…he was very excited when I arrived, he actually ran up to the gate to greet me…I will never forget that

  5. Your adventures are similar to some my oldest daughter has enjoyed/is enjoying. She has been an equestrian for most of her life and now also has a graduate degree in equine studies. Her career role now has her living in Colorado, and traveling all over, and many of her trips have involved outdoor activities.

    • Lisa J. Hoover

It is fun to combine the things you love, like horses and travel…Thanks for stopping by

  6. I love it that you made a plan to work things out the way it’s best for you Lisa, without being overwhelming. That’s the most important thing!

Sorry to hear about Jake, but maybe he just needs more time to recover and rest and he can still ride with you from time to time?

    • Lisa J. Hoover

Thanks Delia! Jake can just be lead next to me when I ride, but for now that is it. Thanks for stopping by
