Come to the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival April 24-27, 2014

This weekend how about “saddling up” and heading on out to Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival at the magnificent Melody Ranch.

Once upon a time Gene Autry owned this historic movie/film ranch and it has been home to such western favorites as Gunsmoke, The Lone Ranger, The Magnificent Seven and more recently Deadwood.

This is the ONLY time you can get in to see this unique and historic movie ranch. It is not open to the public any other time of the year.

Once inside Melody Ranch you are immediately immersed into a Cowboy Culture. Upon setting foot on the streets and sets of movies and TV shows you can practically hear the guns firing and horses galloping through the streets. Melody Ranch Studio features a gigantic western town with a saloon, bank, jail, general store, hotel, church, school, livery stable, and theatre.

What to do at the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival

Fun activities for kids and adults are everywhere at Melody Ranch Studio. Kids can create Western art, pan for gold or spin wool. Buckaroo Story Time will give children a place to listen to stories read aloud by some of the best children’s cowboy authors.  This year Janet Squires will be there signing her book Gingerbread Cowboy a new twist on an old tale which was previously reviewed last year on My Western Heart. For my review, http://www.mywesternheart.com/featured/gingerbread-cowboy/

The Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival Has Something for Everyone

A person could get real hungry and thirsty walking around a big Western town like this but no worries, there are a variety of foods to choose from including yummy BBQ, Mexican fare but in my opinion the best part is the hot peach cobbler that is cooked the old fashioned way in a Dutch oven over hot coals, served with vanilla ice cream! Top that off with some cowboy coffee.  My mouth is watering! I am going straight for dessert.

If you are looking for the latest Western fashion, look no further, men’s, women’s and children’s Western clothes are reasonably priced.  So Giddy Up! See you at the ranch, Melody Ranch for the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival 2014

Hi Heather and welcome to My Western Heart. That dang Peach Cobbler is so incredibly good, crazy good and last year they had it set up right smack when you walked into the festival. It is the perfect way to start the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival!
