The Madonna Inn, San Luis Obispo, CA SLO~Valentine Getaway, Girls Weekend, Honeymooners Paradise

Have you ever driven by something repeatedly and never stopped to check it out. In a previous life so to speak, I had a really cool job that afforded me the luxury of traveling for business, one of my main travel destinations was San Luis Obispo, CA. Once a month I would drive up and down the beautiful 101 highway going right by the Madonna Inn.  Maddona Inn 2 I never wanted to stop in and check it out because to me, it was a honeymooner’s paradise or a perfect Valentine getaway. In my eyes this was not a single gals idea of fun.

Fast forward to last November when my dear friend and I packed up our young daughters for a “girls weekend” and headed for the Remnants of the Past Vintage Show. It was being held  at the Madonna Inn, at first we thought we would stay else where, but after a little online research we decided to check it out. Upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised.

A healthy glass of red wine and a few crackers held us over before dinner. Notice all the pink, pink ice bucket, pink tray, pink napkins, even a pink bathrobe waited patiently in the closet for guests.  I was in pinky pink heaven!  I LOVE pink!refreshments

Arriving late in the day set the ambiance for our exploration of the grounds. The Madonna Inn was full of beautiful twinkly lights, pink roses and a pink sunset, how they managed that I will never know.night

There is another fancier, really beautiful more formal restaurant, but since we had the little gals we opted for the coffee shop. A treat in itself.

The Madonna Inn was made for lovers, Valentines, honeymooners and YES, families. There was a lot to do for everyone. We can hardly wait to go back next year to enjoy the beautiful pool, spa and shopping. menu

Next time, I will  talk about the Remnants of the Past Vintage Show and Susan Branch book signing. This was a blast. I recently was notified that there will be another Remnants gathering in San Jose, CA in June. I won’t be able to make it but if I could I would, a great gathering of vintage and antique items.

Until next time,  Happy Trails, Happy Treasures & Happy Tales
